CEO at Låkril Technologies Placed by K&R

As Released by Låkril Technologies

Låkril Technologies, a pioneer in bio-focused process technology and catalyst development, today announced the appointment of Justin Brown as Chief Executive Officer. Justin’s leadership will accelerate the company’s mission to replace petroleum-based feedstock with sustainable, agricultural alternatives, enabling seamless drop-in solutions for the global chemical industry. Combined with co-Founder Chris Nicholas, Låkril expands their strong leadership team. Chris will now accelerate development of an industry-leading technology suite backed by a comprehensive intellectual property portfolio as Låkril’s Chief Technical Officer.

With two decades of experience in the energy and energy transition sectors, Justin brings a proven track record of scaling innovations through product management, strategic marketing, and cross-functional team leadership. A graduate of McMaster University with degrees in Materials Engineering and an MBA, he has guided global teams across North America, Asia, and Europe, delivering customer-centric innovations that bridge technology and market needs.

As CEO, Justin will spearhead Låkril’s commercialization efforts, including the Q4 2025 pilot plant launch. This milestone will help accelerate the commercialization of their bio-acrylic acid product, providing a sustainable alternative for coatings, adhesives, and superabsorbent polymer customers. Justin’s business expertise positions Låkril to scale technologies that convert bio-based sugars into drop-in, high-volume chemicals, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and strengthening supply chain security and makes him the ideal leader to guide Låkril through this pivotal growth phase, including our next financing round in 2026.

Earlier this year, Låkril closed a $3 million seed funding round, elevating total investment to approximately $7 million, including grants. Participants included GC Ventures, the venture capital arm of Thailand based PTT Global Chemical and parent company of allnex, a leading acrylate resin producer, and with stakes in NatureWorks (a Cargill joint venture specializing in the biopolymer polylactic acid or PLA) and PTTMCC (a Mitsubishi Chemical joint venture specializing in the biopolymer polybutyl succinate or PBS) and Radicle Growth, which deploys a proprietary innovation platform to fund and scale ag startups worldwide.
